This simple program allows you to record audio from a variety of sources. You simply select an input, hit record and let Audio Recorder For free do the rest of the work.
While this program offers a few audio editing options, it is not an advanced tool in any sense of the word. It's a small program at just over 12 megabytes that doesn't do anything other than record audio at the quality settings of your choice. You can choose an output directory, balance and volume, but there's not a whole lot of extras.
Audio Recorder for Free is also a fairly unattractive application. It has a plain grey screen with a few simple buttons and a graphic display that shows you your sound input while you're recording. This is useful for avoiding distortion and other audio artifacts. There's also a little button that opens up your output folder, which is nice for tracking down the files that you've just recorded. You can pause in the middle of a recording as needed and continue without creating separate audio files. Other than these features, Audio Recorder for Free is pretty basic.
Of course, this is a free tool. Keeping that in mind, it's hard to fault it for a lack of professional audio editing features. However, there are default programs in Windows and other operating systems that can handle audio recording just as well as Audio Recorder for Free, so you might want to look around your own Start menu before you decide whether or not to download this limited audio tool.
